Domestic Violence During the COVID-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all people, all communities, and almost all aspects of life. The pandemic has mostly affected marginalized groups by strengthening inequalities and discrimination towards them. Violence has existed even before the pandemic, but this crisis made it more visible. In Kosovo as in many other countries, self-isolation, quarantine, social and financial problems have affected the increase of the reported violence cases and a potential increase of unreported violence cases!
Since the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the increased number of domestic violence and gender-based violence cases has been felt greatly, this year for the World Population Day, held every year on the 11th of July, we will focus on the reported domestic violence cases from girls and women in Kosovo. On the 11th of July for the World Population Day, SIT will present the statistics of reported violence cases in Kosovo during the COVID-19 pandemic. These statistics will be from 9:00 until 17:00 at “Zahir Pajaziti” square in Pristina.
Come to see how many cases have been reported, and don’t just stand by! Do not cause violence, and if you are a witness or a victim of violence – report it at 0800 11112 or 192!
This activity is implemented by SIT as part of the K10 Coalition and supported by UNFPA Kosovo.
