Invitation to our Webinar “Can I Kiss You” Video Project

We are inviting youth, adults and youth organizations to join the webinar on the video project called “Can I Kiss You. Can I kiss you is a short video project; its goal is to raise social awareness among adolescent youth on the topic of consent. During the webinar we will give brief explanations of the initiative, we will share video projects on the topic of consent, video reactions with youth groups and full guidelines that explain step by step on how to organize a youth group, show the video, create workshops with different activities and collect video reactions.

“Can I Kiss You”

The general aim is to contribute to empowerment and social cohesion among youngsters/adolescents. For us, the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) is essential, and we follow international declarations at UN, EU, and country levels on SRHR, though we are aware that SRHR is often under threat.

Besides the direct grassroots experience, this project has come as a result of analyzing information deriving from important, and reliable sources. The topic of Sex Education remains neglected, just as mechanisms of prioritizing and institutionalizing this important topic remain low to this day. Therefore, this project comes as an effort of reducing the gap of information existing among youth on sex education, while it is also a tool of non-formal education that has the potential to trigger discussion, and to generally mobilize greater action by relevant stakeholders around this issue.  

‘Can I kiss you’ is a short video project; its goal is to raise social awareness among adolescent youth on the topic of consent. Apart from a short video story, reactions from youth are recorded after they have seen the video and after taking part in the workshops, which are around the topics of Difference between Gender and Sex, and Power in relationships. Viewers are encouraged to create their own reaction videos and post them on our social media page.

The video lasts around 11.26 minutes, with English and German subtitles available. The Video contains the story of young people, workshops and video reactions.

Based on this video, other organizations and institutions are encouraged to create similar working groups for ages 14 to 25. The design of this project is based on the immense grassroots experience of the team involved in its implementation. Consequently, the team has been working and is currently working with youth, which has led to a comprehensive, first-hand knowledge on youth’s behaviors, and most importantly about youth’s needs.
