Program Y – Youth Integrates Child Protection Modules into Formal Education

On a momentous occasion, Program Y – Youth in Kosovo has achieved a significant milestone by becoming an integral part of formal education with the manual “Thematic Modules for Child Protection.” 

Years of dedication and hard work through the “Future for Youth” project have culminated in this remarkable achievement, promoting a healthy lifestyle, preventing peer violence, advocating for gender equality, and fostering cooperation among various stakeholders, including young people, teachers, school representatives, and the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI). 

In collaboration with CARE International and the YMCA in Kosovo, a collaborative event was organized with MESTI to officially launch the thematic module for child protection within the Program Y – Youth framework. The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Arbërie Nagavci, the Minister of MESTI in Kosovo, who played a pivotal role in opening the event and emphasizing the module’s crucial role in the formal education system. She extended her full support for the integration of this program into the educational curriculum and articulated her commitment to addressing issues such as peer violence, gender equality promotion, and the encouragement of healthy lifestyles among young people from the early stages of their education. 

Mrs. Azize Sekiraqa Heta, Gender Equality Officer at MESTI and Working Group Leader of Thematic Modules for Child Protection hosted the event and delivered insights into the modules’ content and objectives, underlining their significance in shaping the next generation of Kosovo’s youth. 

Mrs. Rita Berisha from Care International shared valuable insights into the regional “Future 4 Youth” project, highlighting its substantial impact on the youth in the region over the years.

Mr. Kadri Gashi, Executive Director at SIT, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to this initiative. He emphasized the importance of preventing negative phenomena among youth and underscored the significance of this moment for everyone involved in the project since its inception. 

What was once a dream has now become one of the most remarkable achievements for Program Y – Youth. This achievement is a testament to the power of collaboration and the commitment of all involved. It marks a significant step forward in enhancing the educational landscape in Kosovo and fostering a safer and more equitable environment for the youth.
